Transportation Infrastructure

A safe, reliable and efficient transportation network is a platform on which other sectors and industries can grow.

The BC Jobs Plan, together with the Pacific Gateway Transportation Strategy, laid the groundwork for a reliable, multimodal transportation network. Major capital investments in transportation and infrastructure follow through on our plan to expand British Columbia’s world-class transportation network.

The Province continues to take action and invest in transportation infrastructure:

  • Investing $5 million in the Highway 16 Transportation Action Plan to ensure safe transportation options for citizens who require access to jobs, training, and other services
  • Investing $3.5 billion in the George Massey Tunnel Replacement Project in Metro Vancouver to significantly reduce congestion and improve travel-time reliability and safety
  • Investing $60 million to widen Highway 97, facilitating more efficient and safer connections to UBC Okanagan and beyond for motorists, cyclists and transit users.
